Welcome to Tempered ("the app", "we", "our", or "us"). By downloading, installing, or using Tempered, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

1. Description of Service

Tempered is a personal development and learning application focused on stoic philosophy and mental training. The app provides structured micro-lessons, reflections, quotes, case studies, and exercises organized across four pillars: Foundation, Logic, Strategy, and Character.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use Tempered. If you are under 18, you confirm that you have the consent of a parent or legal guardian to use the app.

3. Account Registration

Tempered can be used without an account. Optionally, you may create an account using Apple Sign In or email registration to enable features such as profile syncing and data backup. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials and for all activity under your account.

4. Subscriptions and Payments

Free access: Tempered offers limited free content, including the first lesson of each pillar, a selection of quotes, case studies, moves, and traps.

Tempered Pro: A premium subscription unlocks all content and features. Tempered Pro is available as:

• Monthly subscription at $2.99/month (with a 3-day free trial)

• Annual subscription at $29.99/year (with a 1-week free trial)

Subscriptions are billed through your Apple ID and managed via the App Store. Payment is charged at confirmation of purchase. Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period. You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time through your device's Settings or the App Store.

Prices are in USD and may vary by region. We reserve the right to change subscription pricing. Any price change will take effect at the start of the next billing period following notice.

5. Free Trials

If a free trial is offered, you will not be charged during the trial period. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, your subscription will automatically begin and you will be charged the applicable subscription fee. Unused portions of a free trial are forfeited upon purchasing a subscription.

6. Refunds

All purchases are processed by Apple. Refund requests must be directed to Apple in accordance with their refund policies. We do not process refunds directly.

7. Intellectual Property

All content in Tempered, including but not limited to lessons, text, illustrations, diagrams, exercises, case studies, quotes commentary, and design, is owned by Tempered or its licensors and is protected by copyright and intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, modify, or create derivative works from any content without our prior written consent.

Quotes attributed to historical figures are presented with original commentary and educational context. The selection, arrangement, and accompanying analysis are proprietary.

8. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the app for any unlawful purpose

• Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the app

• Circumvent or attempt to circumvent any access restrictions or premium content gating

• Share, resell, or redistribute your subscription or account access

• Use automated systems or bots to access the app or its content

• Submit false, misleading, or offensive information through your profile or display name

9. User Content

You retain ownership of any content you create within the app, including reflection journal entries and personal notes. This content is stored locally on your device and, if you opt in, synced via iCloud. We do not access, read, or use your personal reflections or journal entries.

10. Account Deletion

You may delete your account at any time through the app's profile settings. Account deletion will permanently remove your server-side profile data, cancel any pending data syncs, and clear all local data from your device. Deletion does not automatically cancel an active subscription; you must cancel separately through the App Store.

11. Privacy

Your use of Tempered is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, and protect your information.

12. Third-Party Services

Tempered integrates with the following third-party services:

• Apple App Store: Payment processing and subscription management

• RevenueCat: Subscription entitlement verification

• Apple iCloud: Optional data sync across your devices

Your use of these services is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies.

13. Disclaimers

Tempered is an educational app designed for personal development. The content is for informational and educational purposes only and does not constitute professional advice, including but not limited to medical, psychological, therapeutic, or financial advice.

The app is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

14. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Tempered and its developers shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or data, arising out of or in connection with your use of the app, whether based on contract, tort, negligence, strict liability, or otherwise.

15. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the app at any time for violation of these terms or for any other reason at our sole discretion. Upon termination, your right to use the app ceases immediately.

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms.

17. Governing Law

These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these terms or your use of the app shall be resolved in the courts of competent jurisdiction.
